Modern service industry is new impetus that promotes the sustainable development of the national economy, is one of the most important dominant forces to affect economic and social development in the region, through increasing tension and improving the industrial structures, it eases the employment jobs and promotes economic growth. Further, people’s standard of living is improving. Modern service industry agglomeration is the best state of modern service industry being able to achieve after a short period of development, so, in order to better promote the development of modern service industry, it is particularly important that we should understand and master the development and regularity of modern service industry agglomeration of the national regions. Therefore, this article nationwide 30 prefecture-level cities as the research object, use the city modern service level panel data model to analyze the influence of the city modern service to economic growth, and provides suggestions for the local modern service industry development, in view of above, there are important theoretical significance and practical significance for establishing reasonable industry policies and accelerating local economic development.This paper outlines the research significance and research background, summarizing the research scholars on modern service industry, proposing research ideas, defining the connotation of the modern service industry and describing in detail the basic theory of modern service industry agglomeration. Second, it describes and analyzes in detail the development of modern service industry and agglomeration level of 30 prefecture-level cities, it in-depth analyzes the agglomeration effect and this effect how to act on economic growth, on this basis, selects years 2000-2012 30 panel data sample cities, makes an empirical analysis about the relationship between the agglomeration level and economic growth, summing up the following conclusions:First, for the sub-sectors of modern service industry, in the rankings of the added value of the total proportion of modern service industry, the top three modern service industries are real estate, financial services, education, indicating that these three sectors are the dominant sectors of all modern service industries, there are strong comparative advantages. And the proportion of the added value of the three sectors is 62.35%, it has been more than half the total the industry output value, the advantages of these three sectors are clear, the modern service industry output value mainly concentrated in the three sectors.Second, modern service industry is very important for economic growth, as an important part of the development of tertiary industry, the degree of modern service industry agglomeration directly affects sample cities economic growth and mode. The external scale effect, innovation effect, knowledge spillovers and self-reinforcing mechanism,produced by modern service industry agglomeration, are conducive to the economic growth of sample cities.Third, the modern service agglomeration can produce a positive impact on the economic growth of sample cities, the modern service agglomeration level is affected by the capital, labor, technology and other factors of production, because the degree of these factors that restrict and affect each other is different, making the modern service industry impact on urban economic growth exist differences. China’s modern service industry agglomeration has the following problems, one is the serious agglomeration level differences among eastern, central and western areas, urban agglomeration level is generally high in eastern, while, urban agglomeration level is low in central and western areas, and the second is the extent of the modern service industry as a whole is not gathering high, gathering low level, there are uneven quality of employees and the lack of high-level professionals, in addition, the gathering area is still in the early stages of development, cohesion and bearing capacity of the gathering area is not strong.In the end, the author summarizes the results of the analysis, combines with the actual situation of policy recommendations for the development of modern service industry, and provides reference for government economic policy or decision.
