Study On The Radical Technology Innovation Process In Latecomer Firms

Radical technology innovation, which may change the competitive landscape of the market and lead the industry reshuffle, can offere latercome firm opportunities to realize pursuit and transcendence of the incumbent firms. Radical technology innovation has great significance for latercome firm, and it has gradually becoming the concerned focus by enterprises and academia. However the technology and market uncertainty in radical technology innovation is fairly significant, which can lead the process of radical technology innovation more complicated than general technology innovation. Then, open the "black box" of radical technology innovation process, probe into its specific content, the law of development and the implementation is very significant. Therefore, this paper will do a study on radical technology innovation process of latercome firm, in order to enrich the theory and methods of radical technology innovation and put forward some suggestions for latercome firm’s radical technology innovation practice.The concept of latercome firm and latercome firm’s radical technology innovation is defined at first, so the content and scope of this paper is limited. On this basis, this paper analyzes the three stages of latercome firm’s radical technology innovation process, discusses the role of knowledge in each stage, and build the process stage model of the latercome firm’s radical technology innovation with the knowledge role. Secondly, this paper analyzes the evolution process of latercome firm’s radical technology innovation from the perspective of technology life cycle and technological trajectory conversion theory, and a evolution process model of latercome firm’s radical technology innovation is developed. On the basis of above analysis, refines the influence factors of latercome firm’s radical technology innovation process, and obtains the data through the questionnaire to make an empirical analysis on the influence factors by using structural equation modeling approach. Finally, this paper puts forward the the tuning suggestions for the latercome firms engaged in radical technology innovation from aspects of process stage, process evolution and influence factors.
