Safety Evaluation Of Urban Water Supply In Guangdong

Water is the basic need of human existence and economic and social development.Safe drinking water affects the majority of people’s health and safety.Guangdong Province has abundant rainfall, many rivers, abundant water resources in southern China.In recent years, urban water supply capacity of Guangdong Province gradually increase, the conflict on the water supply capacity and water needs preliminary relief.But the conflict on strong demand for safe drinking water and safe water supply capability deficiencies still not completely resolved, urban drinking water safety problem still exists.Currently, there are many problems of urban drinking water safety, such as drinking water source pollution occurs from time to time, water safety testing capabilities, monitoring system needs to be improved, the emergency response capability is not strong.Strengthen the urban water supply security and emergency response capacity has become an important strategy that affects the majority of people’s health and well-being of Guangdong.As a part of water security evaluation, research on the water supply security evaluation began in the 1970 s, mainly focus on the urban water supply security. The multi-index comprehensive evaluation method has been used in the exiting foreign and domestic studies. The basic theory of water supply is described in this paper, on the basis of the summary of the existed relevant research results. This paper studies the security capabilities of water under normal and emergency state, in source, water supply projects, security system. The evaluation indexes are selected with the combination of quantitative and qualitative screening methods. All indexes are selected form the water source, water-supply engineering, and security system.The newly built grading index system used to be evaluated for water supply security by the cities in Guangdong. The constraints of water supply security are analyzed. With the analysis of data and evaluation results, the current problem of water supply security in Guangdong is summarized.Water supply is a composite system which is composed of water source, water supply engineering and water supply security. Hence the water supply security evaluation is also a complicated systematic issue,especially water supply system is. The multi-index water supply security evaluation system proposed in this paper is relatively simple, which focus on water supply project monitoring capabilities, management system, reserve water. Thus the future research should be further perfecting the index selection and data processing.
