Performance appraisal of research staff has been one of the main problems to most of high-technology companies. After several years’ rapid development, A company has formed the Matrix project organization in R&D projects. How to establish the suitable performance appraisal system is important to the future development for A company.Firstly, the main problems in performance appraisal were analyzed in this thesis. The author found that the performance appraisal criterion was unclear and the index was unscientific. Secondly, based on KPI method, cases study and expert interviews, the key factors of performance appraisal ware set up. The weight of each factor was determined by AHP method. Finally, the author studied the main factors of performance appraisal process, including the subjects, the methods and the period. The research findings were implemented in A company and the outcome was proved effective.The performance appraisal system and methods set up in this thesis are not only useful for improving the enthusiasm of research staff in A company, but also helpful for other high-technology.
