As a leading traditional industry, the construction sector usually plays a vital role in Chinese economic development. When employees in this sector face different kinds of customers, they need to do emotional labor to meet organizational objectives. Their job satisfaction and job burnout are also influenced by it. More and more construction state-owned enterprise managers gradually pay more attention to this new concept.Based on the review of domestic and foreign studies of emotional labor, the theoretical framework and research assumptions are put forward in this paper. Employees in a construction state-owned enterprise in Shanghai are chosen as a case sample. Data are collected by questionnaire survey and analyzed by the statistical software SPSS 19.0. The following conclusions are summarized from descriptive statistical analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis:Conclusion 1:Construction state-owned enterprise employee emotional labor, job satisfaction, job burnout are significantly different in demographic analysis.Conclusion 2:Construction state-owned enterprise employees mostly have considerate degree of emotional labor when performing their job; Their emotional labors are composed of four dimensions:surface acting, deep acting, proactive true performance and passive true performance.Conclusion 3:The employee job satisfaction is composed of seven dimensions: job characteristics, job reward, working condition, personal career development, colleague cooperation, leadership style and organizational factors.Conclusion 4:Job burnout is composed of three dimensions:emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and diminished personal accomplishment.Conclusion 5:Personal career development and colleague cooperation of employee job satisfaction have significant correlation with emotional labor. Surface acting has negative influence on colleague cooperation, but the deep acting has positive influence on personal career development.Conclusion 6:The surface acting has negative influence on job satisfaction, but the deep acting has positive influence on job satisfaction.Conclusion 7:Emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and diminished personal accomplishment of employee job burnout have significant correlation with emotional labor. Surface acting has positive influence on emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and diminished personal accomplishment, but the deep acting has negative influence on emotional exhaustion.Conclusion 8:The surface acting has positive influence on employee job burnout, but the deep acting has passive influence on employee job burnout.Based on the above conclusions, this paper offers some suggestions for construction state-owned enterprise managers to improve employee emotional labor management and employee job satisfaction, and to reducec job burnout.
