Theresearch On The Impact Of FDI On The International Competitiveness Of High-tech Industry In Beijing

With the further development of global economic integration, it has increasingly become the consensus of all countries in the world that is to pursue the all-round development of social economy with technology as the forerunner and innovation as the momentum. The high-tech industry has increasingly significant influence on the development of the national economy and quickly becomesthe new point of economic growth. At present, under the circumstance of weak global economy, China also lowered theexpectations of economic growth; domestic traditional industries are confronted with widespread overcapacity and market saturation. In such macro environment, changing and innovatingthe ideas about development, adjusting and optimizing the structure of economy,mining and nurturing new hot industry, is the inevitable choices under the "new normal" economy.With the comprehensive national strength of China ascending overall and the development of capital city acceleratingcontinuously, more global resources areallocated to China and Beijing. This provides a new opportunity for Beijing to build globally influential science and technology innovation center. And as an open mega-city, Beijing has more urgent demand to optimize the economic structure and to transform the mode of economic growth.For this aspect, Beijing must attach great importance to scientific research and innovation and make full use of global resources to promote international competitiveness ofhigh-tech industry.In this paper, foreign direct investment is mainly studied on the influence on international competitiveness of Beijing high-tech industry; present situation of development of Beijing high-tech industry is comprehensively analyzed from such aspects as the industrial scale, industrial structure, ability of innovating and on. This research also puts more attention to the performance and characteristics of the foreign direct investment in Beijing high-tech industry. And the mechanism of FDI effect on international competitiveness of Beijing high-tech industry is analyzed based on specific economic theories. In the part of empirical study,according to the calculation with historical data, the international competitiveness of Beijing high-tech industry is at the lower level stage. Then, making empirical analysis from two aspects of static and dynamic with the economic statistics from 2000 to 2014.In the static analysis, bivariate regression model is established,the empirical result shows that foreign direct investment of Beijing high-tech industry plays a positive role in promoting the international competitiveness; the investment in R&D also has a significantly positive impact on international competitiveness of Beijing high-tech industry.In dynamic analysis, through the methods of impulse response function and variance decomposition, it focuses on the analysis to the dynamic relationship between the foreign direct investment and Beijing high-tech industry. Finally, combining with the conclusion based on analysis aboved, this paper puts forward several politic suggestions aimed at how to utilize the positive effect of FDI in promoting the international competitiveness of Beijing high-tech industry.
