The Effect Of Environmental Regulations On The International Competitiveness Of Manufacturing Industries In Jiangsu Province

From the beginning of the 1970 s, all the world pay more attention to the environmental problems, various countries in the world have been to make their national environmental standards. With the continuous improvement of relevant environmental institutions, scholars in some countries began to make environmental issues and trade issues together and do a series of studies, particularly the study of Environmental Regulation withe the international competitiveness of industry.It has been a hot topic in economic research. But until now, this topic has still not have a unified result, some one think that is positively correlated, and some think it is a negative correlation between them, and even others suggested that there is no relationship between them.Until the 1990 s, our country began to study some problem about environmental issues, and some scholars also do some research of the problem that the relationship between Environmental Regulation and the international competitiveness. Then the study between these two are limited to the level of the whole country, and not on a particular area of a particular industry. Industrial economy is the core strength of China’s economic development, and the manufacturing sector is a pillar industries in Jiangsu Province. As a famous manufacturing province in our country, the development of its manufacturing sector plays a vital role in China’s economic development. And the study of environmental regulation and competitiveness on the manufacturing industry in Jiangsu Province has a great practical significance. What does the environmental regulation impact on the international competitiveness of the manufacturing sector in Jiangsu Province? This paper will do some research on the theoretical analysis and the empirical analysis.
