The Modern Value Research Of Traditional Handicraft Industry In China

This thesis mainly discusses the modern value of traditional handicraft industry in China. The definition of traditional handicraft industry is mainly conceptualized from three levels: craftsmanship, product and handicraft industry. This paper will show that there is an inseparable connection between handicraft and human beings life based on the history of handicraft industry. The change of life should be responsible for the development of traditional handicraft’s value, which is reflected in the demand of the real life.There is a great change in modern life in that the machine takes the place of manual production. Thanks to this change, the traditional value of handicraft industry has been transformed greatly, which gradually realizes four blanking and four reinforcement.The blanking of the material,the result,the work and the partial value;and the reinforcement of the spiritual,the production;the entertainment and the integral value.Basing on these points, we can conclude several reasons about the existing of the traditional handicraft’s value. Firstly, it is very important in the development of economy; Secondly, it has an absolute advantage compared to the machine industry; Thirdly,it lives up to the demand of modern life and people’s consumption view. This paper will explore the characteristics of the traditional handicraft’s modern value from the perspective of morality and culture.It is mainly embodied in the following aspects: Ethical value; Cultural value; Aesthetic value; Economic value. Finally, it can be concluded that we should take corresponding measures to realize its value after finding its modern value.
