Study On The Forestry Ecological Regionalization And Industry Of Yilong County

Ecological environment is the basis for human survival and development. Our environment has been seriously damaged due to the over-exploitation of natural resources, triggering a series of ecological problems. Forest, as an important part of the ecological environment and the main part of terrestrial ecosystems, plays a pivotal role on the maintenance of ecological balance, restoration of degraded ecosystems, control of ecological environment and beautification of the environment. Health and benign development of forestry concerns the construction of ecological civilization, improvement of people’s living quality and living environment, progression of society and sustainable development of economy. How to coordinate the relationship among social development, economic development and ecological protection is the urgent problems of forestry development currently, forestry ecological regionalization is the key step to solve this series of problem.Forestry ecological regionalization is scientific and reasonable plan on forestry ecological construction, predominated by the ecological principles and methods, integrating the local natural conditions, socio-economic development conditions, status of forest resources and orientation of ecological functions, in accordance with the methods and requirements of ecological regionalization. Yilong County of Sichuan Province was chosen as the research object in this study. Adopting quantitative and qualitative analysis, choosing ecological and socio-economic factors as indicators, according to the principle of largest similarity of internal region, biggest difference of interval region, we divided the county into five functional areas, and analyzed the status of ecological environment and socio-economic status of the various functional areas. We proposed homologous measures in connection with ecological construction and development direction of forestry industry in this district. The main results were as follows:(1) Assessment of woodland and forest resources status:Analyses of the forest area, the type and structure of forest resources showed that the total forest land area of Yilong County was small. Space for development was limited. The forest coverage rate and cumulation of stumpage was small. Structure of forest species was simple. Forest species tended to be single. Forest productivity was low. Forest structure needed to be adjusted.(2) Selections of the indicators of ecological function:Ecological factors selected included topography, geographical position, ecological function positioning, area of cover and area of arable land. Socio-economic factors included population, agricultural population, gross domestic product, per capita GDP, agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery production value and contribution rate, forestry output value and contribution rates, forest area, forest land area, area of public welfare and the commercial forest, forest area per capita and forest cover rate.(3) Regionalization result:The county was divided into five functional areas of ecological forestry, namely the southeast shelter and timber forest functional district of low hills of deep mound, forestry eco-tourism functional areas of Linlang Mountain-Baiyang Lake-Side Reservoir, central agroforestry and forestry economical functional areas, the northwest low mountain shelter functional areas of water and soil conservation and water conservation, forest functional areas of water conservational forest and soil conservation along the Jialing River.(4) Suggestions of development:From the point of range, natural profile, forestry resources, status of development of forestry industry and socio-economic conditions included in each functional area, we analyzed the prospects for the development of forestry ecology of various functional areas and summed up the development direction of forestry ecological industry and issues faced. We proposed development model and the corresponding recommendations.
