China began to implement the reform of the RMB exchange rate system since July 2005, in the RMB exchange rate market, China gradually relaxed the RMB exchange rate control, from then on, the fluctuation range of the RMB exchange rate is no longer limited to certain range, in addition,it is more and more unstable.In international trade, continuous deficit countries led by United States and Japan envy China’s international trade surplus,they began exert appreciation pressure of the RMB on our government for their benefit,In their strong pressure, the RMB have to be in the the situation of continuous appreciation.For a long time,the import and export of our country has a large proportion in GDP,However,the yuan’s appreciation will seriously affect the import and export of our country,thus cause a serious adverse impact on our country’s economic growth,our country’s leaders have begun make some transformation of the focus of economic development from relying on export led economic growth turn to expanding the domestic demand to promote economic growth,If we want to obtain the consumption growth,we must research what are the factors influencing residents’consumption firstly, Under the background of the appreciation of RMB,with to stimulate domestic demand and promote economic growth as a starting point,It is very important to study on the relationship between RMB exchange rate and the consumer.As everyone knows, consumption depends on the income of residents,but each link from production to consumption all rely on the participation of those financial factors,however,the RMB exchange rate is an important economic indicator,therefore,the study of the relationship between the consumer and the RMB exchange rate is also very important.In addition, after the 2008 world economic crisis,the world’s major economies have taken a series of measures to revive the economy,all kinds of trade protection, trade barriers start to become global problems.For developing countries,Like China,that long-term depending on investment and exports to promote economic growth,in response to the negative effect on export caused by the deterioration of the external environment,in order to keep healthy and stable development of economy,vigorously promote domestic demand is imperative.Therefore,for the present stage China,research the relationship between exchange rate and consumption has a certain theoretical value and practical significance.After 2008,countries started to take a series of policy measures to stimulate domestic demand,therefore, as one of the indicators reflecting final consumption,the total retail sales of social consumer goods also received broader social concerns. "The total retail sales of social consumer goods"can not only provide reference index for investor decision-making, making plans,But also reflects whether China’s economic policies, the development of new programs and policies achieve good results,moreover,It is also an important indicator reflecting the level of social consumption.When we analyze problems from individual to whole,we can always make problem becomes more clear and thorough,therefore, analyzing and researching the development trend of the total retail sales of social consumer goods, the development trend of the RMB exchange rate, and their influencing factors,the relationship between the two,all these have very important significance.This article firstly analyze influence factors of the two and the relationship between the two on the basis of theory,then use Eviews econometric analysis software to conduct quantitative analysis about collected data of the total retail sales of social consumer goods and exchange rates from July 2005 to November 2014.
