Cultivated land is an important object of labor, production elements and spaces in agricultural production. The ways and level of cultivated land utilization have a profound impact on regional agricultural production efficiency, food production, farmer income, and the ecological environment. In the backdrop of the “five synchronization”, realizing the cultivated land intensive utilization is an important linkin alleviating contradictions between human and land and coordinating the “Five Synchronization”. Shouldering the important mission to build “The Fourth Pole” of China’s strategy,Urban Agglomeration of Chengdu Plain is not only the economic heights in the Midwest, but also the promotion of demonstration area of National urban and rural reform experiment. However, many problems, such as the low efficiency and industrialization of agricultural production, the contradictions between people and land, are restricting the Urban Agglomeration of Chengdu Plain to achieve the first span and comprehensivesustainable development. Therefore, it is of great significance to carry out research on intensive use of cultivated land in Urban Agglomeration of Chengdu Plain, to tap the potential of cultivated land utilization, and to enhance the comprehensive efficiency and effectiveness of cultivated land utilization.Accordingly, based on the comprehensive survey of endowment and changes of cultivated land resource, combining with the connotation of intensive use of cultivated land, theevaluation index system of cultivated land intensive useof Urban Agglomeration of Chengdu Plain was constructed. The comprehensive indexes of intensive use of cultivated land werecalculated by estimation model of cultivated land use intensive degree. The coordination and temporal variation characteristics of the intensive utilization of cultivated land were analyzed through the coordinated development degree model and intensive degree evaluation model. The evolution characteristics of spatial-temporal pattern of intensive use of cultivated were revealed through Arc GIS10.1 and Geo Da095 i.Byusing the obstacle degree model, this paper analyzes the main obstacle factors and obstacle mechanism which restrict cultivated land intensive utilization. The results show that:(1) The level of intensive use of cultivated land in Urban Agglomeration of Chengdu Plain had been promoting continuously, and all kinds of index changes have obvious stage characteristics, which are the result of the reciprocating movement of all kinds of single indicators in different periods. The IUPS system of cultivated land intensive use is in a state of coordination, and the overall trend is upward. The coordinated development degree of the intensive use of cultivated land has being continuously optimized in most county-scale units.(2) Due to the non-synchronous changes of cultivated land resources endowment, investment intensity and output level in different periods, the cultivated land intensive utilization level of study area presents a high around low spatial pattern and the speed is roughly into balance. The overall level of cultivated land intensive utilization level has greatly improved.(3) The cultivated land intensive utilization level in Urban Agglomeration of Chengdu Plainhas significant spatial differences.Generally, the study area presented that the cultivated land intensive utilization level is high in the centralcounty-scale units and municipal districts cultivated land intensive utilization level is high. The county-scale units that cultivated land intensive use degree of relevantshows cluster distribution. In terms of space uniformity change, the distribution of the county-scale units which have the similar units of cultivated land intensive utilization is relatively concentrated, and the spatial agglomeration of intensive types is obviousin different periods. The type of cultivated land intensive utilization in a small number of county-scale units always remains stable.(4)The change of the center of gravity of cultivated land use intensive degree can clearly reflect the track of the changesand equilibrium degree of the level of intensive utilization of cultivated land, and reveal the spatial variation of the intensive use of cultivated land. The cultivated land use intensity degree in the study area generally moved to the southwest and thenon-equilibrium of cultivated land intensive utilization level is obvious. The gap between the level of intensive use of cultivated land in the north and south is the main force that leads to the center of gravity of intensive degree showing a trend of deviating from the geometric center. It is the main factor that causes the discrepancy of cultivated land intensive utilization level in the whole area. Therefore, speeding up the promotion of cultivated land intensive utilization level in the north county-scale units is the focus of narrowing the difference of space.(5)The cultivated land intensive utilization level of Urban Agglomeration of Chengdu Plain has obvious characteristics of spatial agglomeration, but the agglomeration has a decreasing trend over time.Local autocorrelation analysis shows that areas that located in the north of Minjiang and Tuojiang River alluvial plain have high level of intensive utilization of cultivated land. But over time, this kind of number of the county-scale units gradually decreased from north to south, which explains the fact that the geometric center of intensive degree of cultivated land use continues southward. The mountainous and hilly areas in the north and southeast of the study area are the regions with lower level of cultivated land intensive utilization level. These county-scale units which are massive contiguous distribution and have a relatively stable spatial structure have the huge space to enhancethe level ofcultivated land intensive utilization.(6)Arable land investment intensity is the first classification of obstacle factors, which restricts the level of cultivated land intensive utilization of the county-scale units in Urban Agglomeration of Chengdu Plain. It is mainly caused by the low farming telegram inputs and the low level of agricultural mechanization. The power input of cultivated land and the power input of agricultural machinery are the main single obstaclesthat restrict the level of cultivated land intensive utilization.Based on the above conclusions, Urban Agglomeration of Chengdu Plain still needs to strengthen infrastructure construction to guarantee the cultivated land investment, optimize the agricultural human capital and consolidate the dominant position of the farmers, improve the land policy and play a consolidation effect. At the same time, it also needs to promote agricultural science and technology innovation, develop specialized production skills. Furthermore, it should exert the comprehensive effects of cultivated land intensive use in the aspects of ensuring food security, ecological security, increasing farmer income and alleviating the contradiction between people and land.
