In recent years, the food security problems have repeatedly occurred, which seriously has an impact on people’s lives and health and undermines the social stability. Rice is the staple food for 1/3 of the world’s population because of its high nutritional value, quality and safety of rice products attracting great attention from all sectors of the society. Although China is a great country rich in rice, it is not a great power abundant in high quality rice, the reason of which is that our oversight and control system for product quality is not perfect, and it lacks the monitoring system of information of farm-to-table in the whole process. Build rice traceability system can not only help regulators to supervise the management of rice quality and safety, but also to help consumers understand the rice production and processing of information, so building the rice traceability system is one of the most effective tools for the management of rice quality and safety. At present, our country is increasing the construction of rice traceability system also achieved some results, but lack of a national rice traceability system. All these have seriously affected the development of rice traceability system in our country. According to the characteristics of each link in the process of production, the rice quality traceability system is designed. Detailed research contents are as follows:(1)The choice of key traceability information: Information is the key to traceability system. However, the production and process of rice is complicated and involve a lot of information. It is a double waste for manpower and material resources if all the information is recorded. And it is also a burden to the system. To reduce redundancy of the information and enhance the practicability of the system, the writer analyzes the overall process of rice production. The process has five parts including planting, storing, treating, transporting and selling. All the information related to each process is filtered and the key information in every process is selected to be the traceability information.(2)Selection of the rice information carrier : In the traceability system, traceability informations take RFID, bar code as the main carrier. As the two-dimensional code technology has many advantages, for example, strong error correction and anti fouling ability, large storage capacity and low cost, the system will use the two-dimensional code technology to identity the rice.(3)Design of coding scheme: In the production process of rice, we create a unique identity for rice in order to record the effective information in each link of the rice so that we can make sure that the rice has a one to one relationship with the information. To achieve “one product, one code” mechanism of rice products, it is necessary to choose a set of efficient coding schemes for traceability system. At present, there are many coding schemes, in order to increase the generality of this system, in this paper, according to the content of EAN·UCC system application identifier, guidelines for the tracing of agricultural products, the national central product classification and cods-part 1: transportable product, We select the UCC/EAN-128 mixed GTIN-14 of the EAN·UCC coding system as the coding scheme of this paper.(4)Implementations: Environment for the development of this system: B/S structure, Java programming language, framework of SSH, MySQL database system. The system mainly includes two parts: traceability system and production management system. The production system mainly consists of planting management sub-system, storage management sub-system, process management sub-system,transport management sub-system, and sales management sub-system. The key modules of this system are planting management sub-system and traceability system.
