A Pattern Analysis Of Tourism Research Both At Home And Abroad

Annals of Tourism Research (abbreviated ATR in the following), Journal of Tourism Research (abbreviated JTR in the following) and Tourism Management (abbreviated TM in the following) are the top three international authoritative journals in the field of tourism research. And ATR and TM are admitted by Social Science Citation Index (SSCI). They are the beacon and their papers represent the highest level in the field of tourism research. International tourism research advances rapidly against the background of global economy. Taking ATR, JTR and TM for example, this paper explores the international tourism research strength, domestic tourism research strength from the overall strength of tourism research and regional tourism research strength. And also carries out a thorough discussion about the cause of the development of tourism research institutions.The content is mainly divided into three parts. The first part is the international tourism research analysis. It carries out from the perspectives of the overall strength of tourism research, each continent’s tourism research strength, each institution’s tourism research strength and scholars research strength and the degree of scholars respectively; The second part analyzes domestic tourism research. Similar to the first part, this part also conducts with the above four factors. It also has a topic of semantic network analysis; the third part has a reason analysis of tourism research pattern fron the perspectives of international tourism research and domestic tourism research respectively. Based on the perspective of big data, this paper processes the data through SPSS20.0, ROSTOM6.0 software.The results show that in the international tourism research, the overall strength of international tourism research promotes rapidly along with the rising number of articles published on ATR, JTR and TM, especially the tourism research strength in North America and Europ which are superior to the other continents. However, the development of oceanic tourism research strength is also very bright. And as a risingstar in Asia, tourism research strength also got unprecedented development; In terms of the analysis of the tourism research institutions, The Hong Kong polytechnic university ranks the first, and Texas A&M University, University of Surrey, Griffith university and University of Hawaii follows by; In respect to scholars, Chris Ryan is the most productive scholar with the 23 articles published by the first author and 20 articles by participants. And Bob McKercher, Douglas g. Pearce, Arch g. Woodside, Abraham Pizam also have very strong research strength. Scholars who have a Ph.D degree or above it and lecturer title, may poses more outstanding academic achievements. In terms of domestic tourism research strength, the strength of the domestic tourism research also has improved greatly, so does the level of internationalization. In respect to the number of articles, the number of it increases rapidly; In terms of regional tourism research strength, The Taiwan region and Hong Kong SAR have the strongest strength among China’s mainland; In terms of research institutions, the Hong Kong polytechnic university ranks first, national cheng kung university, sun yat-sen university and national chiayi university also have obvious strong power; In terms of scholars’research strength in China (includes China’s local scholars and foreign scholars in China), Bob Mckercher, Ching-Fu, Chen and Sheng-Hshiung Tsaur have obvious advantages; In terms of the analysis of semantic web, the visual field of Chinese scholars in the areas of subject, the method, the discipline is very broad. This article also explores the international pattern of tourism research, and the causes of the formation of domestic tourism research pattern. Through the analyze of the cause of development of the tourism research institutions, the following factors are of importance to promote the development of tourism research institutions:the tourism market impetus, academic leader of cohesion, academic exchanges of the endogenous force of centripetal, tourism scholars, the internationalization of tourism research, co-ordinate, integrated theory of practice and the equalization of lifeIn order to improve the strength of Chinese tourism research and speed up the pace of Chinese tourism research so as to keep pace with international standards. This paper analyzes international tourism, domestic tourism research, and the cause of tourism research institutions and put forward five Suggestions in the following:First, strengthen the international level of Chinese tourism research; Second, pay attention to the co-ordination of tourism research; Thirdly, strengthen the integration of theory and practice; Fourth, have the interdisciplinary perspective; Finally, reflect the archives mechanism in our country. Hope to boost Chinese tourism research through the above ways.
