As the product of urbanization, Urban Leisure & Entertainment District is an important part of urban leisure space. Along with further developing of urbanization, leisure is becoming the need of people’s life increasingly since the reform and opening up, and leisure space has thus become the focus and hot spots of academic research. Through making a comprehensive view of the studies of dynamical and international development, we find that academic researchers mainly focus on case studies at a specific area of the city, while the macro-level studies of the entire city’s leisure space are still weak, let alone research on distribution service facility. Shanghai, as a city of more than 24 million people, the development of leisure and entertainment industry is more mature than other cities in China. Taking service facility’s distribution of Leisure & Entertainment Districts in Shanghai as the research subject, can optimize the spatial structure of Urban Leisure & Entertainment District in Shanghai as well as provide the experience for other domestic large cities of the construction of Urban Leisure & Entertainment District. This paper summarizes the different classifications of service facility’s distribution of Leisure & Entertainment Districts on the premise that reviewing the evolutionary stages and development characteristics of Urban Leisure & Entertainment District in Shanghai systematically since the reform and opening up. Then, on the basis of collecting data systematically, by using vector data symbolization and luster analysis methods, we explore the configuration characteristics service facilities of Leisure & Entertainment District. Based on above research, the main conclusions in this paper are as follows:Firstly, since the reform and opening up, Leisure & Entertainment District had been experienced three stages, recovery and development, steady advance and rapid growth, and shows "dense inside and sparse outside" at the present stage and a distribution rule leading by traffic and population; secondly, uneven distribution of the number of all kinds of service facilities, among them, the number of dining facilities is the largest and has a dominant and stable configuration in each region. As to the spatial distribution, service facilities as a whole form a structure of circle layer of one center of People’s Square and decreasing progressively to the outer layer, and restaurant facilities, cultural facilities, performance facilities and infrastructure also share a similar distribution while leisure facilities, sports facilities, tourism facilities and shopping facilities generally present a polycentric layout pattern. Thirdly, service facilities’configuration of different types of Leisure & Entertainment District reflect a distinct hierarchy with the number of s service facilities decreasing successively from central Leisure & Entertainment Districts to first-level Leisure & Entertainment Districts and second-level Leisure & Entertainment Districts. Finally, this paper puts forward suggestions on optimizing the spatial structure of Urban Leisure & Entertainment District as well as completing the services facilities.
