Nowadays, entrepreneurial activity plays an important role in state economy. Entrepreneurial activity is not only an effective way to promote national economic development but also an effective way to pursue wealth and to realize self-value. Premier Li Keqiang have stressed the policy of "mass entrepreneurship and innovation" many times in public. As the beginning and the key part of entrepreneurial activity, entrepreneurial opportunity identification will be affected by the entrepreneurial motivation. Existing studies focusing on the factors of influencing entrepreneurial opportunity recognition mainly involve the factors like personal traits, entrepreneurial alertness, social network and priori knowledge. But the scholars haven’t studied the effect of entrepreneurial motivation on entrepreneurial opportunity identification systematically. Because of the important role entrepreneurial motivation played, it makes a lot of sense to connect entrepreneurial motivation and entrepreneurial opportunity recognition together.On the basis of reviewing the existing literature, this paper aims at the relationship between entrepreneurial motivation and entrepreneurial opportunity recognition. Entrepreneurial alertness is an important variable that influences entrepreneurial opportunity recognition. This paper also explores the mediating effect of entrepreneurial alertness on the relationship between entrepreneurial motivation and entrepreneurial opportunity recognition. In addition, this paper discusses the entrepreneurial self-efficacy moderating effect on the relationship between entrepreneurial motivation and entrepereneurial alertness.Based on the data collected by questionnaires, this paper conducted a study on entrepreneurial motivation and entrepreneurial opportunity recognition by the method of literature research and empirical research. The research results show that, extrinsic reward has a significant positive effect on entrepreneurial opportunity identification, the stronger the motivation of pursuing material wealth, the better the ability of entrepreneurs to identify entrepreneurial opportunities. Entrepreneurial motivation also has a significant impact on entrepreneurial alertness. The stronger Entrepreneurial motivation will lead to higher entrepreneurial alertness. The scanning dimension as well as the assessment dimension does have a significant impact on entrepreneurial opportunity recognition. The scanning dimension and the assessment dimension also plays an intermediary role between entrepreneurial motivation and entrepreneurial opportunity recognition. Entrepreneurial self-efficacy plays a negative regulatory role between entrepreneurial motivation and entrepreneurial alertness.Lastly, this paper made a summary. This paper also points out the limitation and the breakthrough point for the future scholars. This paper confirms the relationship between entrepreneurial motivation, entrepreneurial alertness and entrepreneurial opportunity identification. The mediating effect of entrepreneurial alertness and the moderating effect of entrepreneurial self-efficacy are also validated. The results show the importance of the role of entrepreneurial motivation played in the entrepreneurial process. This paper is significant in both theory and practice. |
