As the environment for the development of the industry of geologic survey is recovering, domestic geologic survey companies are trying to join in the developing trend to expand its market share and enhance market power. The competition among the geologic survey companies are increasingly intense since the localization management of these companies. In addition, the geologic survey fund has brought about profound influence to this industry, which is undergoing dramatic changes nowadays. In order to enhance its competence and brand awareness under such circumstance where opportunities and challenges coexist, the comprehensive strength of a company is essential. In this context, geological survey company should specify an effective developing strategy according to the features of its own as well as its internal and external environment to obtain and expand its advantages in the future competition.Based on a thorough literature survey, the author makes summary of the research and practical experiences in the field of enterprise strategy development both at home and abroad. Strategic management theory, PEST, SWOT are used in the main body of this thesis. PEST is for the purpose of analysing the internal and external environment of the target, and SWOT is for analysing the advantages, disadvantages, opportunities and threats of the target. Proper developing strategy is suggested based on the above-mentioned analysis, and relevant measures are listed to safeguard the execution of the strategy, thus the advantages of cm institute of geological prospecting can be strengthened.The author starts the research with the major issues that face cm institute of geological prospecting. Strategic planning in four fields are proposed for the development of cm institute, i.e., science and technology, production, human resource, corporate culture. Several measures are recommended to make sure the implementation of these development strategies and the institute grows in a stable and fast manner. The measures are enhancement of sustainability, strengthening of operation, basic management and qualification construction, making efforts to the ideological work, Party buildingand League group work. All the above are fundamental and crucial for cm institute of geological prospecting in tough market competition in future.
