As an important part of the urban public transportation, the main service object of urban rail transit is the passenger. Therefore, studies on the complexity of passengers’ travel behavior and digs into the general rules from the travel behavior is not only a reference basis for the operation and management department of unban rail transit to make full use of their own advantages and improve the quality of transport service, but also an important theoretical basis for related departments to make policy of transportation planning and traffic management.Based on a large number of previous research results and the large-scale history travel data, this paper focuses on passengers’behaviors of the urban rail transit and studies on the diversity of passengers’ travel behavior, using the theory and method of information entropy. This paper mainly includes the following contents:Firstly, we analyze the diversity of the spatial and temporal distribution of passengers’ entrance flow from two levels:the microscopic station and the macroscopic network. The result shows that there is obvious difference in the entrance flow distribution at different times. Further, the coordination degree between the difference of the entrance flow distribution and the developmental level of the population and economy in the streets is discussed by the data envelopment analysis method. Our research shows that the degree of coordinated development in different streets is quite different. In addition, except for a few streets, most of the population and economy development level for the existing street is relatively adapt to the current development of the urban rail transport, and there is an increasing trend in the entrance flow.Secondly, based on researching the diversity of the inbound traffic distribution, the diversity of the spatial and temporal distribution of passengers’travel OD is studied. Then we draw a conclusion that passengers’OD distribution is more consistent with the Zipf’s law which exists in human activities generally than passengers’entrance flow distribution. Then, the diversity of the travel OD’s time distribution is studied by formulating a travel time model based on relative entropy. The results show that the father the station is away from the city center, the longer time that the passenger’s travel takes, and the more diversity in the travel time distribution. Finally, the stability of passengers’ travel OD is studied by analyzing the passengers’ travel trajectory, which shows that the diversity of passengers’travel OD distribution is caused by the group movement. This conclusion provides a theoretical basis for the predictability of the passenger’s travel behavior.
