There is a close interaction between transportation and economic development, the coordination of which would benefit the whole system to distribute resources rationally and develop optimally. With the traffic and economic integration of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the coordinated development of transportation and economy has been not only the guarantee but also a necessary stage of the integration. The differences of transportation and economic development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region were studied qualitatively and quantitatively using the method of system engineering. The major studies of this paper are as followed.(1) The domestic and foreign existing research were reviewed. Firstly, the research topic was determined and testified. Secondly, on the basis of system theory, demand theory and adaptability theory, the interaction between transportation and economics were analyzed, as well as the coordinated development of transportation and economy in the integration.(2) After quantitative and qualitative filtering, an evaluation system was established from the four dimensions of total amount, structure, efficiency, and growth rate of traffic and economic system based on the analysis of the affects factors of the system. The standardized value of each index was calculated and the index weight were determined by AHP and entropy method. The principal component analysis model and comprehensive model were established in order to quantitatively calculate the development level indexes of traffic and economic system.(3) A series of system coordinated development evaluation models were proposed. Firstly, based on the coefficient of variation, a coordination model between transportation system and economy system was established. The model was improved in accordance with the scenario of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. Secondly, the description standard of the coordination-evaluating results were designed, with the degree of coordinated development and the trend of coordinated development. Thirdly, a multiple-system coordination model was constructed considering the demand of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region. On the basis of the Bucket Theory, correlation analysis and difference analysis were designed. Countermeasures were put forward to transportation and economy coordinate development in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region, on the basis of the evaluation results of model.
