Recent years, the commodity trade between India and China has experienced a rapid development with a warming relationship between the two countries, they have become important trade partners to each other. Nevertheless, the volume of Sino-India trade in goods was asymmetric compared with the huge GDP and population of India and China. Meanwhile, there are still many inharmonious elements in the development of Sino-India commodity trade, resulting in an unstable growth rate and weak resistance to external risk. The performance evaluation of the commodity trade between India and China together with the analysis of the common and individual factors that affect the performance were made in the points of China and India respectively, in the purpose of learning the difference in gains between the two countries in commodity trade, based on which pertinence suggestions to promoting the performance of Sino-India trade in goods were provided, hoping to offer valuable reference for the commodity trade development between India and China.This paper is divided into five chapters. Chapter One introduces the definitions and mainstream theories of performance evaluation, review the researches of Sino-India trade from in and abroad; Chapter Two describes the history of Sino-India commodity trade, and divide it into three stages:tortuous development, restoration & warming and rapid development; Chapter There and Chapter Four are the core chapters, the index system for the performance evaluation of commodity trade between India and China was built in the third chapter, followed by collecting the relevant data from 1995 to 2014 and grading the performance of Sino-India commodity trade via factor analysis, drawing conclusions that the sores are similar and the affect factors are different in the view China and India; Chapter Four analyzes the underlying causes of Sino-India commodity trade performance; Chapter five presents simple recommendations on how to improve the performance of Sino-India trade in goods.The main innovation of this paper lies in using performance evaluation methods in management to study the Sino-India commodity trade, establishing a complete performance evaluation system and calculating the exact performance scores from the perspective of India and China. This article can be expected to add a new angle for the study of Sino-Indian trade.
