Assessment And Analysis Of The Agricultural Development In Hohhot

Agriculture serves as the basis and origin of human society, and constitutes the foundation of the national economy. Chinese government has continuously highlighted the issue of agriculture in its work report, and governments of different levels have also put agriculture high in their agenda. The key of the issues of agriculture, farmer and rural area lies in the agricultural development. On one hand, horizontally, agricultural development should be viewed as a historical process, and on the other hand, it is a vertical and multidimensional issue. With the social, economic and cultural growth, quality of agricultural development, which bases on agricultural structure and efficiency, becomes more important than speed. Therefore, structure and efficiency are mostly used in the assessment of the overall agricultural development. Based on these two major indexes, and adopting the principal component analysis method, this thesis tries to assess and analyze the agricultural development in Hohhot, both horizontally and vertically.Based on the current researches on agricultural development, my research assessed and analyzed the agricultural development of Hohhot in the last decade, from the respectives of investment, yield, agricultural support and security, and economic and social development of rural areas, which showed improvements in the agricultural development. Also, another research analyzed the agricultural development in 5 towns in Hohhot of the last five years, from the respectives of investment, yield, and economic and social development of rural areas, which showed that Tuzuo Town and Tuoxian Town had better agricultural developments than Helin, Qingshui and Wuchuan in the given period of time. Based on all these results, this thesis tries to figure out the factors influencing agricultural development and offer better ways to boost agriculture in this area.
