The China—ASEAN Free Trade Area which established on January 1,2010 brings great business opportunities for Yunnan and Guangxi provinces. At the same time, as the international division of labor is deepening along the industrial chain, ASEAN countries such as Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos which have lower labor cost and abundant natural resources have also been attracting a lot of international investment and multinational’s industrial transfer. This has brought great challenges to Guangxi and Yunnan’s manufacturing industry. Therefore, under this background, How should Yunnan and Guangxi manufacturing industry participate in the international division of labor within the ASEAN region, and how tocompete and cooperate around the value chain of CAFTA are becoming urgent questions for Guangxi and Yunnan.This paper consists of 5sections. Part one is introduction, this section mainly introduces the background of the topic, the methods and significance of the research. Chapter two analyzes the evolution history, current situation and trend of international division of labor, and based on this, use the RCA and G-L indexes to analyze the current situation of the international division of labor and value chain in the CAFTA region. Chapter three analyzes the position, status and value chain of Yunnan and Guangxi manufacturing industry in CAFTA. Chapter four analyzes the strategic choice in the international division of labor and value chain for Yunnan and Guangxi manufacturing industry in CAFTA region. The conclusion part gives the academic summary of this article, proposed the way and corresponding policy of Yunnan and Guangxi manufacturing industry to participate in the CAFTA value chain.
