Research On The Impact Of Household Consumption OnEnergy Use And CO₂ Emissions

In order to exploit the relationship between residents’ consumption and energy consumption and carbon emissions, the essay chooses the urban and rural residents as the objects of the study, and the time period is 2005-2013. The direct energy consumption data are from Beijing statistical yearbook, the calculation of the direct carbon emissions adopts the carbon emissions coefficient method, and the calculation of the indirect energy consumption and carbon emissions use CLA(Consumer Lifestyle Approach). To analyze the relationship between income and energy consumption and carbon emissions, the essay uses CLA to calculate the indirect energy consumption and carbon emissions in different income levels in 2009-2013. Finally, the easy adopts LMDI method to analyze the factors that influence the direct and indirect carbon emissions. According to the results, the easy arrives at the following conclusions:(1) The urban residents’ direct and indirect energy and carbon emissions are higher than the rural residents’.(2) The energy consumption structure of the urban residents are relatively rational, while the rural residents’ energy consumption rely too much on fossil energy.(3) The higher the income, the more energy consumption and carbon emissions. The more the residents’ income, the more the indirect energy consumption and carbon emissions that derive from food consumption, however, its proportion in the total indirect energy consumption and carbon emissions become lower.(4) Among the factors that influence the carbon emissions, residents’ consumption level and the population are the major promote factors, and the carbon emissions in per energy consumption is the major inhibition factor of the indirect carbon emissions. According to these conclusions, the essay finally come up with some suggestions, such as optimize energy consumption structure, promote the use of clean energy and adjust industrial structure reasonably and so on.
