In recent years, with the upsurge of national entrepreneurship, mass innovation and the development of IT industry’s characteristic itself, the phenomenon of turnover intention of IT manager caused by entrepreneurial motivation increases sharply. It promotes competition in the market, however, hinders the development of scale formation and innovation and makes the industry into a vicious price competition. This study mainly explores the relationship between entrepreneurial motivation and turnover intention of IT manager. The existing theories respectively about entrepreneurial motivation and turnover intention have significant achievement; however, there is rare study on the relationship between the two variables, especially about IT manager. Based on the motivation theory, we explore deeply the effect of entrepreneurial motivation on turnover intention. This study divides entrepreneurial motivation into extrinsic entrepreneurial motivation and intrinsic entrepreneurial motivation. Extrinsic entrepreneurial motivation contains extrinsic reward and family security, intrinsic entrepreneurial motivation contains intrinsic reward and autonomy. Meanwhile, in order to reduce IT manager’s turnover intention, we introduce moderation—internal entrepreneurial environment.This study is empirical research. The data is gained by the questionnaire. All the scales in the questionnaire are derived from authoritative journals. Each scale is evaluated by the means of the seven-point Likert. The 43 objects of the survey are IT managers from 16 IT companies in Shenzhen. We use SPSS18.0 and AMOS18.0 to do the validity analysis, reliability analysis and correlation analysis. Through the regression analysis result, we test the effect of the extrinsic entrepreneurial motivation, intrinsic entrepreneurial motivation on turnover intention and the role of moderation.The result shows that external entrepreneurial motivation and intrinsic entrepreneurial motivation have a positive effect on turnover intention; internal entrepreneurial environment can moderate the relationship between intrinsic entrepreneurial motivation and turnover intention. When the internal entrepreneurial environment is stronger, the turnover intention of IT manager caused by entrepreneurial motivation is weaker. However, the moderation between the extrinsic entrepreneurial motivation and turnover intention is not supported. This study has strong significance on enterprise human resources management of IT industry.
