The Research On The Role Of Construction Of Shipping Centers In Yangtze River Economic Area In Promoting The Level Of Open Economy

As the Yangtze river economic area is written in the government report, and the relevant guidance documents are issued by the state council, the development of the Yangtze river economic area has officially risen to the national strategy. Relying on the shipping center construction of Yangtze rivers economic area and promoting the open economy to a higher level becomes a sustained growth engine of China’s economy in the future.The essay describes the concept of the Yangtze river economic area and it’s advantages such as superior geographical condition, convenient transportation, abundant natural resources, developed economy, and abundant human capital. By analyzing the current situation of the software and hardware facilities of Shanghai, Nanjing, Wuhan and Chongqing four major shipping centers, it concludes that so far shipping centers of Yangtze river economic area have four sorts of drawbacks:first, the shipping center construction lack of financial support; second, shipping center transportation system is not sound; third, shipping center is lacking of an international shipping derivatives trading platform; fourth, the effect of port cluster is not obvious.The essay employs datum in recent years about the 11 areas along the Yangtze rivers economic area to analyze the current situation of the open economy in the Yangtze river economic area. It concludes that the level of open economy in lower reaches of the Yangtze river takes the leading position, while the extent of open economy in the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River is improving in general. By analyzing the situation of the open economy in China and the role of Yangtze river economic area shipping center in promoting the level of the open economy, it concludes that the constrution of shipping centers of Yangtze river economic area are effective in promoting open economy hierarchically from the eastern to the central and then to the western region by facilitating international trade and attracting foreign investment as well as international economic cooperation and division of labour. In the last section, some suggestions that can further the development of open economy are given. Relevant authorities should strengthen the financial support of shipping center construction, open the shipping service industry to foreign capital, promote the shipping center in line with the international economic corridor, strengthen the construction of ports and build free-ports to perfect the function of shipping center, so as to promote the development level of the open economy.
