Types Of Geoheritage And Evaluation In Bayan Nur Geopark, Inner Mongolia, China

Geoheritage means a kind of valuable and non-renewable geological natural heritage which is developed and preserved because of the internal and external dynamic geological affection in the long evolution of the earth’s geological history. Its characteristics of non-renewable, regionally integral, irreversible, not portable, divertible and multi-disciplinable are important resource for human to understand the Earth’s history, and also an important way for understanding the evolutionary changes in the process of gaining valuable information on the Earth. Although the geoheritage may not have directed economic nature, it has the values of scientific research, teaching, science education, disaster and environmental education, special education and other potential values. Particularly the mutual integration of natural heritage and cultural landscape make it be an important tourist resource, due to its great value of tourism.The usage of geological heritage study is also carried out over surrounding geoparks. China is the most active country promoting the protecting of geoheritage, especially on behalf of the government which promotes the construction of geopark. It has practical significance in the effective protection of geoheritage, the local ecological environment, the popularization of science of the earth, the promoting of local economic in the way of sustainable development, and so on.Basing on a detailed survey of the park’s resources in geoheritage, which is evaluated qualitatively and quantitatively. In the qualitative evaluation, the geoheritage is evaluated from the systemic integrity of the scientific, aesthetic, economic, social and environmental value .In the quantitative evaluation the geoheritage is evaluated in using AHP and comprehensive evaluation (weighted sum of multi-index comprehensive evaluation model), and expert consultation combining three types of evaluation method. It is elicited Bayan Nur which is fit to establish a national geopark because the geoheritage there is obtained rich and diverse landscape, natural beauty , a long cultural tradition ,and it is also a tourist area, with high science, tourism, and aesthetic values.
