Geoheritage is formed by the the internal and external geological processes in the Earth history, reflecting the physi-chemical, and environmental changes in the geological history, as precious natural heritage, it is important evidence for understanding geological phenomena, speculating geoenvironmental and evolutionary conditions. Geoheritage is a kind of non-renewable heritage, which means the destroyed geoheritage can not be recovered forever. At the same time, geoheritage has great values in scientific research, popularization, tourism and socio-economic development, so it has great significance for human survival and development. Geoheritage has the blending characteristics of the environment and resources, the geoheritage protection has practical significance for both ecological environment and sustainable development of society. The one of aims in geopark construction is for the sake of better, more sustainable and more effective protection of geoheritage resources. This paper, taking the Mount Taimushan National Geopark as an example, is mainly discusses on the problems about reasonable protection and sustainable utilization of geoheritage resources in geoparks. According to the field surveys and data collection, the geoheritage resources in Mount Taimushan National Geopark are scientificaly classified, qualitatively and quantitatively assessed. The Mount Taimushan National Geopark includes Mount Taimushan scenic area, Jiuli River area, Yushan Island scenic area, Niulanggang scenic area. The geoheritage types in the geopark are dominated by granite landforms, flowing water landscapes, marine erosion and accumulation landscapes, lake landscapes and river landscapes. In the Mount Taimshan scenic area, the granite landforms are large in scale, typical in type. forming very interesting granite pictographic landforms, with great scientific value and tourism value. In order to better geoheritage protection, this paper uses a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to assess geoheritage in the geopark. The quantitative method is AHP. The result shows that the geoheritage resoureces in the geopark are very typical and precious, and especially their high values both in scientific research, aesthetics and socio-economy, which needs to be scientifically protected and rationally developed. At the same time, according to "the Technical Requirements for National Geopark Plan" and geoheritage rarity, the Mount Taimushan National Geopark is divided into four-grade geoheritage protection areas, i.e., the core-protected area, the first-, second- and third-grade protected areas. Based on different grades of protected areas, the geoheritage will be correspondingly protected.Meanwhile, in order to fully reflect the geoheritage’s scientific and tourism values in Mount Taimushan National Geopark, this paper gives the scientific plan and suggestions. On the basis of analyzing, assessing the geoheritage, ecoenvironment and other resources in the geopark, this paper proposes coressponding protection methods foundation for geoheritage protection. and suggestions. Finally, this paper also calculates and predicts the geopark environmental capacity, aiming at realizing a sustainable development and two-win between ecoenvironmental and economic benefits, which could provide a solid...
