Geography is a highly practical area of science and geography fieldwork is an important part for the development of the geography industry.The geographical information data is one of the important objectives of field work.Traditional geography fieldwork needs to be carried out with a large number of instruments for collecting data and paper graphics.The accuracy of information is low and there are great diversity of data types.Integration analysis is difficult and subsequent processing workload is heavy.At the same time,it is difficult to dispatch the instant information in the process of team work.People's demand for geographical information has increased year by year.Some traditional geography fieldwork methods have become increasingly unsuited to the needs of the times.The development of GNSS,GIS,RS and other spatial information technologies has provided technical support for geography fieldwork and a new direction for the reform of geography fieldwork.In recent years,moble phones are more and more widely used in China.Mobile intelligent terminals' superior computing performance and strong network access capabilities can assist with geographical field work.Mobile intelligent terminals can plan field survey routes through the map APP in the geographical field.It can alse collect data,share data and instantly adjust the field work.With the new methods,the efficiency of work can be improved and the cost of work can be reduced.Based on the analysis of geography fieldwork systems at home and abroad,this paper summarizes the problems existing in traditional fieldwork and identifies the basic ideas for solving problems with mobile intelligent terminals.This paper studies the use of Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS),Geographic Information System(GIS),Remote Sensing(RS),Internet technology and APP development technology to design a new model of Internet plus and intelligent terminals-assisted geography fieldwork in light of the deficiencies of traditional geography fieldwork models.According to fieldwork cases,the effectiveness of the model was tested and analyzed.The paper analyzes the positioning accuracy and coverage of smart phones in GNSS(including GPS,GAL,GLO,BDS and QZS),compares and analyzes the positioning accuracy and positioning efficiency of smart phone APP,analyzes systematically multi-source satellite data by Google Earth and mobile internet map service capabilities.We have designed and established a new geography fieldwork model using mobile intelligent terminals as carriers,satellite images as data sources and practical map APP as a tool.It was applied to the investigation of geological field geomorphology and the survey of island surface cover types.The application cases shows that the new model can meet the needs of geography fieldwork in the positioning accuracy of GNSS,the timeliness of satellite remote sensing data and the serviceability of mobile maps.The new mode greatly improvs the field work efficiency and accuracy.The mode solves the problem of portability of tools and improves indoor and outdoor communication.The new modefacilitates scientific investigations and field work.
