Nowadays, the raw materials of paper become wosre and wosre. At the same time, people pay more attention to the quality of paper and environment. At this situation, people and enterprises pay more and more attention to develop the environmental and efficient paper additives. Therefore, a series of cationic biomass paper additives were prepared in order to cater for the needs of enterprises. Firstly, JDA-H/DF and JDA-H/YC was prepared by adding JDA-H into starch and tea processing residues. And it used IR, particle size and viscosity to characterize the structure of the complex. Secondly, JDA-H/starch was used as surface sizing additives. JDA-H/starch and other synergist were added into liquid starch paste to prepare surface sizing which is similar to commodity. By using film-forming properties, the contact angle and particle size, it illustrated the surface sizing mechanism. The application of JDA-H/YC into papermaking was studied. Under the optimum conditions, it was compared to cationic starch on fiber retention, retention and drainage, performance of paper. Lastly, JDA-H/YC was applied into ricing light paper. Its optimum condition was studied through the performance of paper and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). This research successfully made use of tea processing residues. It means to turn waste into treasure. At the same time, it offers technical support to prepare multifunctional cationic biomass paper additives.
