With the rise of China's manufacturing industry and the proposition of " China's manufacturing 2025" strategy, the next decade will be China's golden decade of manufacturing, and machine tool industry will also usher a rare development opportunity. Gantry rail grinder as the key machine tool processing large size parts of large machine tools, its level of technology directly affects the level and the development of machine tool industry and even the whole equipment manufacturing industry. In this paper, regarding MKW5230A/3*160 large precision CNC gantry rail grinding which is developed by Eastern Numerical Control Company in Weihai city of Shandong province as the main research object, and regarding the workbench motion control as the main research content, we have done the work of the motion control scheme's and algorithm's design and research of the workbench, to make workbench get excellent athletic performance.In chapter one, it mainly introduces the research status quo and the development trend of thfuture of gantry rail grinder, as well as the research background of this article.In the second chapter, it introduces the gantry rail grinder's mechanical structure and hydraulic system, and the principles and functions of the HSV- ADI2 Control Unit which is developed by Huazhong Numerical Control Company. In order to solve the problem of the workbench movement, this article puts forward three kinds of different control scheme, respectively as scheme one, two, three. In chapter three, based on scheme one, we use the software SSTT to collect and analyze a large number data of workbench movement, laying the foundation for follow-up study. In the fourth chapter, we use the control unit to control the workbench's movement, and make in-depth study on its control algorithm. In the fifth chapter, we combined with the scheme one and the scheme two, then proposed scheme three, and mainly studied the workbench distance function's implementation scheme and algorithm.In the last, we compared the three kinds of scheme, to summarize their respective advantages and disadvantages.In this paper, the problem of workbench's motion control summed up in three aspects, which respectively is solving the problem of variable speed control, reversing control, and the distance function. Respectively from the three aspects of hardware and software design, finally solve the whole problem of the workbench's motion control.
