Hermetic calcium carbide furnace is the main mainstream of calcium carbide industry, energy saving and environmental protection, high quality and high yield. At present, the capacity of the hermetic calcium carbide furnace is small, the power factor is low, the energy consumption is high and the operation is not stable, which seriously affects the normal production of calcium carbide furnace, which restricts the development of calcium carbide industry. The main reason is that the process parameters are not reasonable and the main structure has defects. This thesis derived from new product development projects of Dalian HuaRui Heavy Industry Group, mainly from the above two aspects, carries on the design and development of 40.5MVA hermetic calcium carbide furnace, the goal is to make it become the domestic advanced large capacity hermetic furnace, to promote the development of calcium carbide furnace technology.This thesis introduces the development process of calcium carbide furnace technology and the working principle of calcium carbide furnace, combined with the engineering practice, the advantages and disadvantages of the open, semi closed and closed calcium carbide furnace are analyzed, and the key parameters such as electric furnace output, electrode diameter, concentric circle diameter of electrode, diameter of furnace, secondary current are calculated and determined, and the performance analysis and selection of key parts such as electrode system and the output shaft of ring feeder are carried out. Through the determination of the important parameters, it provides the theoretical basis for the main structure design.The structural design of the main parts of the 40.5MVA hermetic calcium carbide furnace, including the structure design of the furnace body, the furnace cover, the electrode column, the feeding system, the secondary bus and so on. This thesis mainly using the method of analogy design, adopting the domestic advanced technology of sealing furnace cover, technology of combined clamp electrode, full symmetric transformers short-net and technology of ring charging machine. The overall design of the 40.5MVA hermetic calcium carbide furnace is accomplished by determining the structure of the main parts of the electric furnace, such as circular furnace body, water-cooled furnace cover, combined electrode column and ring feeder, etc.The traditional design has been improved, and the shortcomings of the existing hermetic calcium carbide furnace are improved. For example, using the technology of high temperature sealing to achieve excellent sealing effect of furnace cover seal; adopting three-phase isometric of short-net, improves the charging power factor, increase the furnace production; By increasing the number of contact element, the secondary current distribution is more uniform, the current density is reduced, and the electric energy utilization rate of electric furnace is improve; the cylinder of ring feeder is arranged outside, which prolongs the service life of the equipment and the operation is more stable; the environmental dust removal device, are added to improve the workshop environment, clean production is realized. By improving the optimization, the technology of 40.5 MVA hermetic calcium carbide furnace is more advanced and reliable.Through above main work, the design and development of the whole structure of 40.5MVA hermetic calcium carbide furnace was completed, and the construction plan of 40.5MVA hermetic calcium carbide furnace was drawn, can be used directly for relevant mineral hot furnace project or reference. The 40.5MVA hermetic calcium carbide furnace system, which is designed in this thesis, has been applied in multiple calcium carbide furnace projects, Such as Xinjiang TianYe and ZhongTai. After more than two years of engineering practice verification, equipment structure is reliable, performance is stable, and achieved the anticipated target of the low consumption, high quality and high yield, achieved good application effect in the practical production.
