As the development of the science and technology, the requirement of modern CNC machine's higher performance is increasing. Cutter saddle as an important component of large CNC machine tool, plays a fixed role in supporting turret, and directly affects machining accuracy, cutting performance and efficiency. The characteristics of cutter saddle play a critical role for the machine's overall performance. Therefore, in this research we analyze the cutter saddle's static analysis and modal analysis and thermal analysis, and obtain the cutter saddle's stress, vibration characteristics, temperature distribution and thermal deformation, in order to provide the basis for the cutter saddle structure optimization.HT100 CNC lathe cutter caddle as the object for the study in this research. The summarized as follows:(1) Three-dimensional modeling. According the cutter saddle's parameter to use SolidWorks software to make the cutter saddle's simplify three-dimensional solid modeling,in order to improve the analysis and calculation efficiency. Parameters that research required should be obtained in the process of experiment.(2) Characteristics. Putting The cutter saddle's three-dimensional solid model into ANSYS Workbench, then we analyze the static and modal characteristics analysis and thermal characteristics of cutter saddle in four conditions, in order to obtain the stress and deformation maps turret, vibration characteristics, temperature distribution and thermal deformation.(3) Optimization. According to the special characteristics analysis results to optimize cutter saddle. But, the optimization must be ensure the cutter saddle's main structure.(4) Verification. The verification bases on optimization results to change cutter saddle's Three-dimensional model, and analyze the new cutter saddle's characterization again.Compare the maximum deformation and thermal deformation of optimization before and after.Verified the cutter saddle after optimization whether meet requirement.The results showed that after the optimal of cutter saddle, it's modal characteristics stillmeet the requirements of the machine design. Through this research, not only provides feasibility cutter saddle structure design reference for the machine tool manufacturing industry,but also for similar lathe CNC lathe cutter saddle or other important components performance analysis and studies provide important guiding significance.
