The ultrasonic vibration cutting (UVC) is a new cutting method which has been presented and developed since 1980s.The UVC can produce high frequency and small vibration amplitude on traditional cutting tool,which can enhance machining accuracy and efficiency.The emergence of the UVC covered the shortage of traditional cutting technology in difficult-to-machine materials and precision machining field. Compared with traditional cutting technology,the UVC can reduce the cutting force and the cutting heat,reduce the surface roughness and improve the machining accuracy,enhance the life of the cutting tool,inhibit the emerge of the burr and built-up edge.All of these characters make the UVC have wide application prospects in aerospace, automotive industry and micro mechanism.On the base of searching and reading mass of reference, this project aims at the realization of the ultrasonic ellipse vibration cutting (UEVC) with two parallel piezoelectric transducer,and do much work on the ultrasonic ellipse vibration cutting work-head's movement mechanism, structure design, optimization design by FEM and the cutting process of simulation. The following are the major research achievement and work of this thesis.First, this paper systematically summarized the developed history, current research and application of the UVC. And it also introduced the working characteristics, advantages and categorization of the UVC,and clarified the research purpose and meaning of this paper.Second, introduced the basic theories of the piezoelectric transducer and the ellipse vibration,and deeply studied the vibration cutting mechanism. Discussed the ellipse movement formation condition based on the two parallel piezoelectric transduce.And designed the structure of the work-head,and completed the analysis of motion.Third, this paper builds the FEM modeling of the UEVC, through the software ABAQUS compleated statics analysis and dynamic analysis.Research the sensitive factors which influence the natural frequency of the structure. According to the analysis result,we can do optimization design to the UEVC work-head.At last, aim at the characteristic of the ultrasonic ellipse vibration cutting we design a comparison simulation experiment between the ultrasonic ellipse vibration cutting process and the traditional cutting process. Respectively analyze the stress-strain, the pressure and the cutting force. And the result tested and verified the advantages of the ellipse vibration cutting.
