With the domestic market demand, heavy slab increasingly strong, and the product profit is big. In the ordinary steel market competition is becoming more and more serious situation, many domestic steel enterprises began to invest in the construction of heavy slab casting production line. The second cooling is one of the key technologies of slab casting, it has an important influence on the surface quality and internal quality of slab. The formation of surface crack, slab internal crack, bulge, center segregation and crack or other defects are closely linked with second cooling. Especially under the high casting speed, the slab temperature will rise and the solidified shell thinning, this will easy to produce defects. Second cooling control system is reasonable in relation to the slab quality.XinSteel 5# slab casting is the maximum thickness of the vertical bending-type single-strand casting production lines. The slab's wide is 1600/2400mm, and the thick is 300/420mm. With the accelerated pace of adjustment in XinSteel, cast-added products, improve quality and increase slab casting operating rate has become an urgent problem. As the key technology in slab casting, second cooling control is directly related to the success of new product development, so the research is necessary to do on XinSteel 5# slab casting second cooling.In the analysis of 5# slab casting related key technologies and related equipment, advantages and disadvantages of several second cooling control method be found. On this basis, focuses on the second cooling control technology, based on static speed control strategy to determine the static parameter. The distribution method achieved second cooling water control strategy. Based on the surface temperature of the slab, the design of the second cooling tables and second cooling water switch benchmarks.The design of PLC hardware and software determine to use the Siemens Step 7 system. It implemented XinSteel 5# slab casting static water distribution PLC program. In the design of the data blocks are used to store static parameters, according to the parameters of the selected section steel. Finally obtained the casting speed from the drive, achieve a static water distribution automation and control, while achieving a 5# slab casting PID control.This design provide a greater theoretical significance and practical value in improve product quality and the development of new steel grades second cooling water distribution program.
