Coalfield fire is a kind of natural disasters triggered by spontaneous combustion of coal seams or sometimes associated with the mining of coal resources, which is quite common in allover the world where produce coal, especially in Northern China, typically extremely serious in Xinjiang. Such incomplete combustion of underground coal seams not only creates the great loss of treasure coal resources for nothing, but also destructs the vegetations and soil,as well as emissions of greenhouses gases and other harmful gases, thus severely impacts the local and global environment. Under the circumstance of global change and carbon emission trade is becoming increasingly diversified and internationalized, the environmental impact of coalfield fire is attracting more and more attentions both at home and abroad. Therefore, the development of an applicable methodology for measurement of carbon emission from coalfield fire, different from any other methodologies for organized greenhouse gases emission is essential, for providing basis of environmental loss estimation and carbon emission trade in the foreseen future. This paper for the calculation of carbon emissions from coal fire area as the main research object, based on the theory of conservation of energy, in the calculation of stable combustion period of coal fire carbon emissions to establish a set of practical measurement combined with the mathematical model of estimating model. In Xinjiang Jimsar Shuixigou coal fire area as an example, validation, formed the following conclusions:(1) Coal combustion, the energy to the four ways of heat conduction and heat radiation in the surrounding underground, and air convection, heat and smoke concentration, with gas emissions from coal combustion can be measured through the release of energy. So as to establish a more accurate model of the baseline emissions.(2) According to the measured surface temperature of fire area, area and the area of the firearea crack, gas temperature, velocity and composition, calculate the coal fire area in coal emissions from heat; Then calculated by heat balance the coal fire area of the year, according to gas iteration to calculate the dispersion emissions from the burning of coal gas in out of the heat, and correction in coal; Finally by the adjusted annual coal quantity and calculate the baseline emissions of carbon content.(3) Based on the measured data of Xinjiang West Ditch of Jimsar coalfield as an example, the mathematical model into the fire, estimate of the annual emissions of 424640 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent.(4) Through on-the-spot gas recovery, Shuixigou coalfield, coal field gas sample analysis from the carbon dioxide emissions equivalent to 393158 tons.(5)Mathematical model of quantitative calculation results more accurate, quantitative evaluation for scientific coal fire hazard provided technical parameters and calculation method.
