In recent years, as China has been calling for the construction of a conservation-minded society, people become increasingly conscious of the importance of environmental protection. The advancement of coke oven process control technology is not only the fundamental driving force for the sustainable development in terms of the energy conservation of coking industry, but also serves as the basis and necessary conditions to establish the resource-saving and environment-friendly coking enterprises. In the coke oven project, oven drying is important and complex, because it influences the service life, coke quality and operational safety of new ovens. Therefore, ovens of high quality are essential to the smooth commissioning and implementation of the project.According to the current situation, the full use of the resources available in the enterprise is integrated with the technology of the enterprise through a detailed understanding of enterprise demands and access to relevant project documents. Moreover, the advanced information technology is utilized to develop a set of coke oven process control system. The main structure of the thesis is as follows:Firstly, the coke oven technology is introduced, including coal preparation, coking, gas purification, public auxiliary facilities, coking production technology process and gas purification processes. The furnace structure of coke oven is also described: furnace roof, combustor, carbonization chamber, regenerative chamber and inclined flues etc. The body of coke oven mainly consists of its interior components and mechanical equipments. Finally, the oven drying technology is introduced, including the fuel consumption comparison among three kinds of ovens, the comparison and selection among these three methods of oven baking, oven facilities and gas flow path, oven preparation and oven heating plan etc.Subsequently, the overall hardware design scheme of the system is put forward, introducing the principles of equipment selection and the selected equipment. The automatic control system of the oven consists of upper computer, RS232 to RS485 module I-4520, thermocouple module I-4018, input module I-4017(4-20VmA) and output module I-4021(4-20VmA) etc. Moreover, the process flow chart and the detection point layout scheme are also presented in detail in this paper.In the third part, the software of the system development is introduced. In the operating station, the operating system of the process automation control system consists of WINDOWS 2000 Chinese version and iFIX monitoring software. Meanwhile, the principle of PID control technology is also illustrated.Finally, the implementation of the remote control for this system is introduced. After the implementation of the project, the model of the coke oven heating control process is established with the corresponding expert system developed. All the heating data are collected in real time and transmitted to the computer safely and rapidly, which will guide the heating process of the coke oven and realize the real-time monitoring, analysis, scheduling and management of the coke oven heating process. In this way, the automation, remote services and intelligentization are really achieved in the heating process of the coke oven.The research results show that the coke oven process control system can be applied to factory production because the system is better at controlling the temperature of the oven, achieving energy conservation and lengthening the service life of coke oven. However, the design still requires further improvement in this paper, such as the better application of remote control system and the oven-controlled automation technology.
