This paper deals with the improvement of the millisecond delay electric detonator delay time and the delay precision. Firstly, we selected ration 85:15 silicon type delay composition as the basic drug, and then four different kinds of nano metal oxides in different proportions are added to the basic drug, through comparative analysis of the delay time and precision before and after the nano metal oxide is added to the delay composition, finally we determined the effect of different kinds and different ratios of nano metal oxides on the silicon type delay composition delay time and precision. By characterizing the nano metals used in the experiments with XRD and SEM technology, we confirmed that the nano materials can meet the test requirements. In the delay time experiment, seconds test of the delay element based on photoelectric measurement system for testing its delay time and delay precision, the delay time is accurate. By testing delay times of different cutting long delay elements, we found the relationship between the extension of the delay element length and the delay time; we also tested the delay elements(after a certain time of storage) and compared the changes of the delay time and precision. We had an XRD test on combustion products of the delay composition, and qualitatively analysed the changes of nano materials in the delay composition in the combustion process.After studying the results of the test, we draw the following conclusions:(1) The 4 kinds of nanometer metal oxides used in the experiment are tested by XRD and SEM, and the results show that the size distribution and the particle size of each kind are about 30nm, which can satisfy the test requirements.(2) According to the test results, if different kinds and ratios of nano metal oxides are added to silicon type delay composition, the silicon type delay composition of delay time and delay precision can be greatly changed. Especially with the addition of 9% nano-ZnO, there is a greatest impact on this kind of delay composition. It not only changed most of the delay time but also the delay precision.(3) It can be found from the test results that the cutting length and delay time is proportional to the relationship.After a period of storage, the delay time of the delay material increases and the delay precision will be worse.(4) The 5 kinds of the combustion products of the new delay compositions are tested by XRD, and the results show that there is a chemical reaction of 4 kinds of nano metal oxides and silicon delay compositions.It has been found that the delay time and delay precision of nano metal oxides on the silicon delay composition are changed to a great extent, which can provide a reference for the future application of nanometer materials in the delay composition.
