Since the reform and opening up, China's economic development has made remarkable achievements, while the amount of waste has also increased year by year. Pollution problem is getting worse, waste disposal is an issue of common concern to countries in the world. After a long period of exploration, people find that waste incineration power generation is an effective way to turn waste into treasure. In our current economic and social environment, in-depth study of economics and feasibility of waste incineration power generation project has great significance to China's economic development and environmental protection.This article describes the current general waste disposal methods, illustrates the operation mode, benefits and potential risks of waste incineration power generation projects. The article points out two common business models and analyzes the key factors affecting the earnings of waste incineration plants, such as price level, garbage fees, tax policy, etc. the economic viability and feasibility of the waste incineration plant have been calculated in the paper through analyzing the payback period, net value rate, yield rate and other indicators. By calculating the carbon emission reduction of waste incineration and other waste disposal process, the paper points out that the waste incineration power generation has more advantages. In addition, the paper further analyzes the factors which influence the normal operation of waste incineration plants. The paper also analyzes the shortcomings of the current development of the industry, and proposes security measures to provide some advice for the healthy development of the industry.The paper chooses Dagang waste incineration power generation project as an example to analyze of the economic viability of the project as well as the background, investment, expenses, income, and so on. Through comprehensive calculation, the paper concludes that Dagang waste incineration power generation project has significant carbon emission reduction benefit and is feasible. The paper provides a good theoretical basis to Dagang waste incineration power generation project as well as to the other projects.
