Nowadays,grinding has already became one of the important processing methods in the field of mechanical manufacturing,and the application of the grinding technology and the grinding machine is also playing a more and more important role in the modern machining.But the grains on traditional grinding wheels in a random arrangement,and in the grinding process the active grains only accounts for a small number of total grains and the space of the wheel is not conducive to the flow of the grinding fluid and the timely discharge of the abrasive dust.These will cause the increase of the grinding force and the grinding temperature increase even cause the workpiece burn,finally the workpiece quality is reduced.Therefore,grains orderly arrangement on the surface of the grinding wheel can guarantee grains in the axial and circumferential to achieve non equidistant dislocation and the formation of complementary space,increase the active grains number and volume to increase space for abrasive dust,improve the grinding performance problem has become one of important direction of the current grinding technology development.Firstly,creatively use the phyllotaxis theory in biology applied in the field of grinding and combined with grinding theory in this paper,designed and manufactured engineered grinding wheels based on phyllotactic grinding wheels.Considering the problems of distribution of abrasive and the principle of mirror image,and based on the temperature field formula of the heat source which have be known,the temperature distribution in the grinding zone of the engineered grinding wheels have been achieved and the grinding temperature field model of engineered grinding wheels have been established respectively.Secondly,the engineered calculation software MATLAB is used to calculate and simulate the grinding temperature of engineered grinding wheels field in this paper.The grinding temperature of wheels on engineered grinding wheels have been calculated and simulated respectively.The influence of the speed of grinding wheel Vs,the workpiece speed Vw and the depth of cut ap on the grinding temperature have been analyzed,and the grinding temperature of the grinding wheels with different abrasive arrangement have carried on the comparative study.The results show that,the grinding temperatureof the phyllotaxis grinding wheels is lower than other engineered wheels.Finally,the grinding performance of engineered grinding wheels is studied in this paper,and the experimental investigation on grinding temperature during grinding of TC4 with engineered grinding wheels through the experimental platform.The grinding temperature was measured,and comparing with the grinding temperature results of engineered grinding wheels,and the relationships of the feed velocity and grinding depth on the workpiece surface temperature and the comparison of grinding temperature with three kinds of engineered grinding wheels were studied.The test results revealed that the TC4 grind temperature with engineered grinding wheels can be effectively reduced at the same grinding conditions,and lower surface temperature can be obtained with phyllotactic grinding wheel.
