Water is an essential resource for human life and production. Water quality is closely related to our daily life. So it is important to study the on-line monitoring system of water quality of rivers and lakes. Nowadays, in most water works and water stations, the automatic monitoring system for water quality uses IPC and industrial control bus instead of Internet technology, which is more convenient and efficient. Using the embedded Web server to access the Internet, to build a lightweight, stable, real-time water quality monitoring system will become a trend of development.This paper uses SOPC technology to establish a Nios II dual processor system on FPGA,which is a combination of the water quality parameters acquisition and embedded Web server.Through selecting the measuring instruments of water quality routine five parameters(water temperature, p H, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, turbidity) and ammonia nitrogen, using a simple, fast, no secondary pollution way for COD measurement, and using the serial port to connect the instruments with the data acquisition processor, realize the acquisition and storage of water quality parameters. Meanwhile the embedded web server is achieved by the transplantation of ?C/OS real-time operating system and Niche Stack TCP/IP protocol stack. We realize the dynamic updating of Webpage through internal software program which can achieve partial CGI function. The use of hardware mutex in Nios II development kit can coordinate the shared memory access of the two processors.In this way, the staff can monitor the water quality through Webpage browser on PC. The combination of embedded technology and Web technology in the water quality monitoring system can not only improve the system performance, but also reduce the cost and power consumption, the volume of the equipment can also be reduced.
