Compared to traditional screen printing, digital printing technology has many advantages, such as low cost, low pollution, short delivery cycle, etc. However, usual digital inkjet printers currently apply PC to process data decoding, transpose and transmission, whose speed of inkjet printing is far less than traditional screen printing. It leads to the low popularization of digital inkjet printers in industry. To exert the advantages of digital printing, removing the bottleneck of printing speed becomes a pressing issue.Therefore, this thesis reserches and develops a data transmission and processing system of high-speed digital inkjet printers based on Tilera GX8016 embedded processor. The system receives image data by two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, applies multi-core and multiple processes technologes to ration out the work of data decompression and transpose between the processor cores. At the same time, the system is equipped with DDR3 SDRAM mass storage to store the image data and system files of embedded Linux. Besides, it expands interfaces such as USB, I2C, RS485, RS232 to achieve the interaction and control. The processor achieves the data sharing and synchronization between different cores by sharing memory, as a result, the efficiency of the system is significantly improved. After the decompression and transpose, data is sended by high-speed PCI-E interfaces to Arria II series FPGA to complete image color recombination and formate conversion, and finally accomplish inkjet printing. Test results show that, the system’s bandwidth of image transpose can reach up to 300MB/s, while total output bandwidth is 224MB/s. when equipped with eight KJ4B-QA inkjet printhead, the system can reach the printting speed of 720m2/h, which obtains multiple promotion compared to the digital inkjet printers processing on PC. thus, it has great value of engineering application.
