Gear production plays an important role in the modern mechanical manufacturing industry, the manufacturing level of gears can reflect a country mechanical processing level. Spiral bevel gear is a kind of gear pair used to pass rotary motion of the intersected or staggered shaft which has a constant transmission ratio, it mainly consists of spiral bevel gear and hypoid gear. In the transmission process, this kind of gear has the advantage of large overlap coefficient, strong bearing capacity, the stable transmission, so it is widely used in aerospace, automobile, machine tool and other industrial fields. The spiral bevel gear transmission has become essential member to modern machinery industry. At present, the processing of spiral bevel gear is mainly on special milling tool. Since the gear milling tool generally uses a cutter, and its installation and adjustment is also quite tedious, cutter tooth wear, chipping and fracture often occurs while processing modulus gear, so its life is generally short and then increases the processing cost. Therefore, it has very important significance to solve these problems on the processing of spiral bevel gear.This paper is based on a new type of tool system which is used for milling spiral bevel gear.On the basis of spiral bevel gear shaping method, taking the tool cutting test as the research object, analyze the cutting force, the cutting parameters and the blade parameters for the research content, Taking the cutting experiment by this tool to obtain the effect of the processing parameters, Analysis the general applicability of the milling force experience formula of this kind on this processing conditions and work out a new formula of cutting force, The cutter blade structure is analyzed by finite element analysis, the results are compared to the reality to verify. The improved design scheme is proposed according to the analysis results, The finite element analysis of blade parameters is also carried out to get the effect rules,The improved design of cutting edg can improve the cutting quality and the life of blade.There is a certain reference and guiding significance to the development of this cutter.
