After investigation and research to the typical board type custom furniture manufacturing enterprise, found that currently custom furniture enterprises are facing the huge pressure of market competition because of the long production cycle and high production costs. In order to reduce the costs, the custom furniture manufacturer cutting the plates come form different furnitures together, which can increase the utilization of materials. However, this approach has produced a large amount of work in the late sorting operations. The manual sorting mode in the production process not only spend a lot of time and labor, and higher sorting error rate, and ultimately lead to longer production cycle and higher production costs.In order to simplify the sorting processes, improve the sorting efficiency, reduce the labor cost and time cost, the automatic sorting system is proposed to replace the existing manual sorting operation.According to the production status of our custom-plate furniture,The function and the overall layout of the sorting system are designed, and the layout scheme is put forward. In this paper, the mechanical equipment used in the system is simply designed.The automatic sorting system is analyzed and simulated with Flexsim simulation software. The purpose is to test whether the internal logistics of the automatic sorting system is smooth, layout and equipment configuration is reasonable, and to estimate the sorting capacity of the system.The simulation results are output in the form of Excel statistical report after simulation. Simulation results show that the system has 3138 board member retention, 4 stacker cranes in the work of the state for a long time, the idle time of stacking robotsi are more than 70%. Under this premise, the system sorting capacity of 2600 pieces/day.The simulation results were analyzed,and It's mainly caused by the lack of handling capacity of stacker cranes.To solve this problem, optimization is proposed to increase the number of stacker cranes to improve the handling capacity.The Flexsim simulation model is adjusted according to the optimization scheme.The optimization results are verified by re-running the simulation model. Optimized simulation results show that the system running smoothly, without board member retention in the system and the equipment utilization rate and vacancy rates are relatively balanced.Under the premise,the largest sorting capacity of sorting system is 5725pieces/day.
