With the rapid development of the domestic wind power equipment, shipbuilding industry and other major national construction projects, the demand for large gears with large-diameter high-precision and large module has continued to rise. At present, the large gear processing is that the outer teeth are processed on the gear tooth machine, the internal teeth are processed in the gear shaping machine, and forming milling tooth with a finger milling cutter in the milling machine for tooth shape processing.The purpose of this paper is to break the blockade of foreign technology, breakthrough technology from abroad on the tool, machine tools and software to solve in the absence of large gear hobbing machine in gear and gear milling equipment, no large gear hob, gear shaper cutters and forming milling cutter, such as special tool of under, using general machine tool and general tool for generating and processing of large gear tooth profile. This paper will provide a cost-effective solution of large gear processing which can make single and small batch processing of large gear in the absence of special circumstances gear processing equipment as possible in urgent need of great significance for major national projects to meet the urgent demand.Under the conditions of the absence of large-scale special gear hobbing machine and milling machine, and no gear hob, gear shaper cutters and forming milling cutter, the main content of this paper is to study a new scheme by using five axes machine tools and general tool to process the large gear with Cost-effective. Through in-depth study of the forming principle of large cylindrical gear tooth profile and processing technology,completed the mathematical model of involute profile and completed the tool model, Then calculate the cutter path planning, through NC program pre-processing and post-processing the cutter path file into NC code, and the NC code is verified, the correct NC code is writing into the five axes machining center to carry out the method of verification.Since this paper only to do the verification of processing methods, the experimental processing blank using the modulus of 4mm, the number of teeth of 23 cylindrical spur gear. The new scheme is proved useful and economy by compared the gears which are processed by traditional hob, ball-end cutter, end mill and general CAD/CAM software. From the machining accuracy, efficiency and other aspects prove the advantages of the new method. Through analysis and experiments eventually developed a CAM software with independent intellectual property rights, and using common three- face milling cutter and the five- axis machining center to process the straight- tooth or helical tooth.
