In the petroleum industry, the oil sludge tends to increasingly accumulated in a large amount at the bottom of oil product tanks, which would have passive impact on the oil quality, economic benefits as well as the environmental pollution. Compared with the research of the hydro cyclone carried out continuously in the crude oil separation, cyclone separation of fine particles in the field of oil product still has a long way to go.Based on the particle size experiment, hydro cyclone separation device type was clearly chosen in this research. By utilizing the simulation software, the flow field characteristics, the structure of double cone cyclone and the relationship between them were mainly studied, based on the verification of the correctness of the model. Reasonable suggestions of the double cone hydro cyclone structure were put forward when the law of the structure to the velocity field, the pressure field and the distribution of the medium were found. Lastly, 64 groups of tests were carried out on two different pyramid ratio using orthogonal test method, synthetically considering the parameters of the structure, the medium and the operating conditions. The optimized combination of process parameters and its influence to the different separation indexes were obtained.By the research on the cyclone separation of the sludge in the refined oil tank, a novel way as well as the process combination scheme for oil industry has been discovered, which would make certain contribution to the oil industry in the field of saving the energy and improving the economic benefit.
