Tool is an important resource of workshop production, due to a wide variety of features of tool, including huge number of types, huge number, lots of parameters, frequent borrowing and lending, Thus lead to the workshop for its lack of effective management of tool. With the continuous development of information technology and intelligent equipment, and the depth of the application in manufacturing industry, multi varieties and small batch are becoming the main production mode of manufacturing industry, and traditional machine workshop also gradually transition to digital workshop. Traditional manual tool management mode has been unable to meet the operation environment of digital workshop, and seriously hamper the operation and development of digital workshop. There are still problems unresolved for digital workshop: How to establish an effective tool encoding method to complete the track of whole life cycle; how to conduct shop scheduling considering both equipment and tool, and complete tool requirement planning; How to optimize scheduling for the random disturbance during the manufacturing process during of workshop.Therefore, aiming at the current problems of tool management, the tool management mode based on MES in digital workshop is explored, and the tool management system based on MES of digital workshop is designed and developed, to help enterprises realize information tool management of shop execution layer and raise the level of tool management in the manufacturing process.Firstly, the digital workshop tool management model based on MES is explored, based on the tool management characteristics and needs analysis of digital workshop, to build the general framework of the model, and to design its operational processes.Secondly, this paper studies three key technologies: tool coding method and the track of whole life cycle based on RFID, the comprehensive pre-scheduling of machine and tool based on indefinite tool resource, and tool dynamic scheduling for digital workshop. It puts forward a flexible coding method by using the combination of fixed code and flexible code, to realize tool automatic coding, testing and identification. It establishes a physical model of the tool flow and the tracking of whole life cycle model based on RFID, to realize the management of each location and whole life cycle of tool. It establishes a comprehensive pre-scheduling model concerning machine and tool resources based on indefinite tool resource, and distinguishes between general machine and machining center, to realize an effective scheduling and the enactment of requirement planning of digital workshop tools. It establishes a multiple dynamic scheduling model of digital workshop, to realize the dynamic scheduling of machine and tool resources considering four random disturbances.Finally, the digital workshop tool management system based on MES is designed and developed, to achieve the function of tool basic information management, tool inventory management, tool planning management, tool scheduling management, tool statistical management, and so on. This system has been applied in a digital workshops of Chongqing Jiangzeng Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd., helps the company optimize and standardize tool management processes, and realizes tool information management.
