The ability of numerically controlled machine tools heavily depends on the tools equipped, but the price of tools is extremely high and the long term expense on tools exceed that of machine tools. So, to improve the machining quality and decrease investment, an efficient and comprehensive tool management system is essential.However, tools contain complex parameters, and the staff involved in tools belongs to different positions and departments, which brings some difficulties to tool management.Firstly, according to the properties of two dimensional code and radio frequency identification devices(RFID), this research proposes a scheme which combines these two technologies to realize tool recognition and tracking and then designs the management of full life cycle of tools.Besides, the production scheduling problem affects the efficiency of automatic production line. Distinguished from other relevant researches, this research takes the fact into consideration that each operation is allowed to be processed by different tools,which makes the mathematical model more general. When optimizing the result, this research introduces the pheromone updating rule in Max-Min Ant System to reduce the gap of pheromone on different paths, which can avoid ants trapped in repeated route too early. The simulation experiment proves the effect of this method.Then, this dissertation describes the development of the tool management system.Considering the difference in client, this system adopts the B/S running mode. To sharing information with central control system and manufacturing execution system(MES), this research provides three kinds of interfaces, which are opening database,reading XML documents and publishing WebService function. Based on tool parameter management, this research develops full life-cycle module and automatic production module to meet both the need of enterprise resource planning(ERP) and automatic production.In the end of the dissertation, the progress in the project is summarized and some forwarding research plans are proposed.
