In this paper, seven novel palladium, nickel, copper, and cobalt Methoxyimine-complexes have been synthesized and characterized. After activation of MAO, These complexes are applied to catalyze vinyl polymerization of norbornene ?NB?. The catalytic behaviors for NB are explored in detail under the polymerization parameters such as Al/M ratio, reaction temperature and monomer concentration. Besides, the structures and properties of polynorbornene ?PNB? are characterized. The major research works are summarized as follows:1. Two novel [N,O] Methoxyimine-ligands ?H1?H2? have been synthesized by the Schiff, and seven late transition metals ?nickel, palladium, copper, cobalt? complexes supported by ligands have been synthesized. All ligands and complexes are characterized by element analysis?IR detecting?MS and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis.2. After activation with MAO, complexes 1-7 are applied to catalyze polymerization of NB. Palladium complexes ?complexes 2 and 5? have higher catalytic activities, and catalytic activities of nickel complexes?complexes 3 and 6? are lower than palladium complexes. But Copper complexes?complexes 1 and 4? and cobalt complexes?complexes 7? have little catalytic activities.3.The catalytic behaviors of palladium complexes ?complexes 2 and 5? for NB are explored in detail under the Al/Pd ratio? reaction temperature and monomer concentration. Under the preferred conditions, the catalytic activities of complexes 2 and 5 are up to 1.183×107 g PNB·molPd-1·h-1 and 1.130×107 g PNB·mol Pd-1·h-1.4.The structure of polymerization are characterized by IR?SEM?WAXD and TG.
