A Comparative Study On The Products In The Urban Furniture System Between Guangzhou And Kaohsiung

The product research of the urban furniture system,which is interdisciplinary and comprehensive and related to many professions,departments and other subjects,involves a series of subjects such as industry design,urban and transportation planning,environmental art design,public information communication design,ecological and environment studies,design psychology,plasticism,behaviouristics,esthetics,ergonomics,etc.Urban furniture,as a link between humans and environment,which is indispensable in public space,is an important issue in the present social research.The general steps of China’s urban construction are: first,the town planner plan the total urban space;then the the architect or the industrial designer design the urban furniture.This is the reason why the traditional urban furniture and the public space environment lack systematicness and coordination.The solution to this problem is that the designers need to think systematically and integrally and cooperate with each other.The innovation of this thesis is that,based on the system theory,it studies the products in the urban furniture system of the whole public space.In the beginning,it puts forward the related concepts and principles of the products in the urban systematic furniture.Next,it makes an investigation and evaluation on the current situation of all the products in the urban furniture system in Guangzhou and Kaohsiung.With the geographic,historical and cultural background analyzed,it attempts to find the reason for the difference of the urban furniture in the two cities.By way of contrast and analogy,it discovers the existing problems of the urban furniture in Guangzhou,thinking about the solution.Hopefully,the research findings of this thesis can make some contributions for China’s city construction and provide some referential elements for urban furniture design in some other areas.
