In the circulating cooling water system, the water is easy to produce scale and corrosion phenomenon, because of evaporation, concentration, concentration ratio increases. People usually adopt dosing of scale and corrosion inhibitor agents to suppress and alleviate this phenomenon on industry. The scale inhibitor currently used mainly phosphorus-containing polymer and polycarboxylate polymer, but the phosphorus-containing polymer is easily hydrolyzed and phosphorus content in the water is too high will cause eutrophication; the carboxylic acid polymer hard to biodegradable and then impact on the environment. So this paper study on the scale inhibiting capability and other properties of a new-type of terpolymers β-CD-MA-SSS, which is a non-toxic, phosphate-free, easy to biodegradable polymer. And scale inhibition performance evaluation on Wuhan Iron and steel wastewater to provide data support for the industrial applications.Through the static scale inhibition experiments on the new terpolymers β-CD-MA-SSS was found that, the polymer β-CD-MA-SSS had good performance of inhibiting calcium carbonate. When the mass concentration of β-CD-MA-SSS is 20 mg/L, its calcium carbonate scale inhibiting rate can reach 84.36%. It can better play the role of scale inhibitor in cooling water with low hardness and low alkalinity. The general effect of calcium sulfate scale inhibitor. When the polymer dosage is 10mg/L, its calcium sulfate scale inhibiting rate is only 27.78%. When the polymer dosage is more than 20 mg/L, will be produce scale. The polymer had excellent performance of inhibiting calcium phosphate. Mixed solution of calcium and magnesium ions scale experimental results show that, when the calcium and magnesium ions ratio was 3:1, the calcium ion concentration is 150 mg/L, magnesium ion concentration is 50 mg/L, and the polymer dosage is 25 mg/L, the scale ratio of the mixture can reach 90.97%. In addition, the polymer also had a certain dispersity of iron oxide. When the polymer dosage is 30 mg/L, transmission rate can reach 67.1%. Also had good salt resistance, can be used in high salinity environment.The scale inhibition test on Wuhan Iron and steel wastewater was showed that, the optimum dosage is 30mg/L and the scale inhibition rate reached 83.85%. The polymer showed good inhibition effect on the actual wastewater. Comprehensive consideration the factors of inhibiting effect, environmental effect and economic benefit, the novel copolymer scale inhibitor had the promotion of significance.
