Compared to mechanical shaft drive technology Electronic Line-Shafting has its unique advantages, so it has been widely used in gravure press industry. The paper focus on the communications gateway of the color register system of the Electronic Line-Shafting gravure press system, and we have designed the hardware system as well as finished the major software features.The communication gateway is used for CAN and Ethernet communication conversion. In the hardware system, we use TMS320F28335 as the main control chip, 10M50DAF484C6 G as the auxiliary control chip, DM9000 A as network chip, and design the auto C AN transceiver control circuit as well as other auxiliary peripheral circuits. Considering some features of the software will b e implemented in hardware and configuring the system with remote system upgrade feature in the future, we choose 10M50DAF484C6 G as the auxiliary control chip.In the Ethernet communication, firstly we developed the network chip drive of DM9000 A. Then we choose uIP as the network communication protocol and have it simplified as well as transplanted. We only retained the TCP protocol, ARP protocol, IP protocol and the Ping function of the ICMP protocol, and made some adjustment according to the features of the DSP we selected. In the application layer, we simply implement it with Modbus/TCP protocol because of the protocol what the HMI use. At last, the test confirms that the basic functions of the Ethernet communication can run normally. In the CAN communication, after realizing the CAN drive we have the CANopen protocol simplified to meet the features of the devices and the actual demand.The hardware system of the communication gateway can work normally, and each module of the system is fully functional. CAN communication and Ethernet communication can basically achieve stability and real-time requirements.
